I once knew a man who shared the same name

I once knew a man who shared the same name.
His fire was infectious and I'll be forever changed.
And as I gather in the hall with all his loved ones, my strangers,
I am reminded of life's infinite dangers.
So we mourn and celebrate the loss of one whose lust for life could never be quenched.
Overcome by emotion, tears flowed into my beard until it was doused and drenched.
My heart is heavy, though I know, his spirit flies on the wings of a dove.
With a room full of people there to pay our respects, I realized, life's greatest reward is love.

  1. Some truly live as constant reminders of why it is that life is so precious. To aspire to be one of these people is to ultimately become everlasting. One's legacy is ultimately one's gift of life. So in order to honor those who have graced our presence but who are no longer w/ us, live each day as if it matters. More importantly, live for your passions. All frustrations will soon subside. But passion is the definition of a life well lived. Success is the previledge of being true to your beliefs. So challenge yourself to live for such things that fulfill your soul completely. And disregard all of that which serves only to defeat you. For such a thing is simply illusion.
